BAIRD/BEARD FAMILY CEMETERY
Located in Section 4, Township 14
This cemetery is located approximately 1 mile southeast of Oxville on land belonging (in 1988) to Arthur Likes. There is no road across the cultivated field. The cemetery has wire fencing, but is completely hidden by heavy brush. Thomas Baird (b. TN ca. 1802), son of William and Margaret (Maxwell) Baird of Wilson Co. TN, obtained a land patent on 21 May 1831 on the S/2 NW/4 Sec. 4, T14, R13 in Scott County, Illinois (77.79 acres).
Five stones were found in the cemetery. Stones read in June 1988 by Cecil & Betty Campbell, 4380 Harrison Blvd #30, Ogden, UT 84403.
