William J. Wilson Farm Cemetery

WILLIAM J. WILSON FARM CEMETERY

This small rural cemetery is located in the Southwest Quarter of Section 27, Township 13 North Range 12 West 3 PM, Scott County, Illinois. It is approximately 1/4 mile east of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, surrounded by a fence, and maintained. In 1903 this land was owned by William J. Wilson. He is buried here beside his wife, Marinda.
William Jasper Wilson, twin brother of Thomas K. Wilson, was born in Kentucky and came to Illinois in 1840 with his parents, James and Hetty Rowe Wilson. His first wife was Amanda or Laura Ann Jewitt who died in 1864. They had one daughter, Marilda. On 27 September 1864, in Scott County, Illinois, he married Marinda Haney Day, former wife of Thomas Day. William and Marinda had nine children: John, James Franklin, William Edgar, Isaac who died in infancy, twins, Armettie and Luvettie, Harrison, Thomas and Truman. Six of their children: John, James F., William Edgar, Thomas, Truman, and Armettie Moore West, have markers in this cemetery.
